Richard III Gold Angel with a Boar’s Head mint mark (1483–85) is an extremely rare and historically significant coin, with prime examples selling for significant amounts at auction. A notable specimen found in Leicestershire in 2012 sold for
£36,000 (plus buyer’s premium) at Spink in December 2012.
Recent Sold Prices and Value

Boar’s Head Angel (£36,000+): The 2012 find was noted for its excellent condition, bearing the boar’s head mint mark on both sides.
Rare “Mule” Type: A Richard III gold Angel (Class 2b/3 mule) with a boars head mark has been offered with estimates exceeding high, with similar high-fine examples valued strongly.
Half-Angel (£40,800+): While not the full Angel, an extremely rare Richard III Gold Half-Angel found near Bosworth sold for £40,800 (including buyer’s commission) in 2017.
Market Value: Due to the 26-month reign and limited mintage (just under £30,000 worth total), these coins are rare. Fixed price listings for similar types have appeared around £19,500 for examples with moderate wear.
